We loved this gig at the Duchess.... always a great venue to play. The sound is excellent, the stage has fabulous lighting and the audiences are always great. This gig was all about excellent musicianship - it was a thrill to watch Michael McGoldrick's and the two Johns' superb playing.

Our next support at The Duchess, Stonebow, York is for Karine Polwart in November. Obviously, we are looking forward to that one!

Baby Boy!

We had a fantastic time down at the Duchess last night supporting Lucy she is truly lovely and talented and we really enjoyed her set. (and her sandwiches!)

We were pretty pleased with how well we played too and put it down to the brilliant fold back and great atmosphere - thanks to those of you who made it down.

Blisters on our fingers

We have played so much recently that we actually have sore fingers!! A great night was had by all at the Hyde Park in Norton (29th Jan). Thanks to those who came to see us.

We're looking forward to Thursday 4th Feb when we return to the Red Lion in Otley for our regular slot. It's FREE and there is beer!

Hi everyone,

We have some fantastic gigs lined up for the coming year including support for Eliza Carthy, Maeve O'Boyle and Lucy Wainwright Roach. But of course the highlight for us will be our album launch gig - soon to be announced. We hope you can make it!

The Little Num Num Club

This was such a good gig! We both agreed that although we really love to play, we would have enjoyed this evening if we had just sat and listened. The line up was superb. Chris Helme (The Yards) was entertaining and his songs sublime as always. The fabulous Troubadors (who are playing at the Moonbeams gig this Friday too) have grown to a four piece and raised the roof! Daisy B has the most fantastic voice and Marbled opened the evening with the most delicate, beautiful songs. We weren't bad either!

On Monday we'll be back in the studio to work on the album (we are getting there - honest) and preparing for Friday's gig in Driffield (The Bell Hotel). Really looking forward to that.

We are having a mini break from the recording to allow other musicians to work on their contributions (how exciting) but the second album is sounding fab already of course. Our outing to the Ringside in Hull was enjoyable and we made some new friends there. If you've not been to their music evenings you will be in for a treat if you can make it. It's a little gem, with good quality musicians and excellent sound. Thanks to all those at Music HQ for the gig!

We have a number of gigs coming up. Our regular appearance at the Red Lion in Otley is on 1st October. It would be great to see you there. It's FREE and we tend to play our new material, so it's an adventure for everyone.

Our next York gig is at the Little Num Num Club, at the Arts Theatre on Monkgate. This regular event has been set up by Chris Helme (of the Yards) and is becoming an ever popular gathering for those who enjoy live music of a high standard. £6 on the door.

And a bit further afield is our appearance at Moonbeams on 9th October. This is also a regular event at the Bell Hotel in Driffield. We'll be appearing alongside Miles Cain and The Troubadours.

Well, we'd better get rehearsing then....!

We had a great time at Greenbelt Festival - SOLD OUT of CDs (don't ask how many we took!)
We really enjoyed playing the Late Night Twist - what a great listening audience! We loved you!

We're off into the studio again on Monday. We have some wonderful bass parts to mix and three new songs to start. Sharon may get Nelson, her mandola, out if Studio Stu allows such a
folky-folk-folk instrument in his electro sanctuary.

But we are confident we now have the second album nailed and will be letting you know the release date shortly (!) At which point we will announce the mystery guest musicians who have been so easy to persuade........

Fairport Convention at the Duchess

Please forgive us for banging on about this gig, but what an ace time we had! Our evening with Fairport Convention was a huge buzz for us (and we'd like to think it was for them too!!).

We had to pinch ourselves a few times, thinking about how we've been listening to them for years and then suddenly we're sharing their stage!

Thanks to all of you who came down - there were quite a few familiar faces which was lovely for us.

The Fairport Convention guys were so lovely and welcoming, we were immediately put at ease and we felt able to eat their crisps. Our set went well and it was a fabulous experience to play at the Duchess for the first time (good practice for 24th July!). And the two FC sets were just as good as ours ;-) Seriously, everyone there had a fabulous time and 'Meet on the Ledge' and 'Who Knows Where The Time Goes' almost made us cry (almost - we're tough Yorkshire girls). A night that will be long remembered and will go in the memoirs when we're famous.

We should mention our mates Geoff and Steve who are ancient Fairport fans. They delighted us with their gift (sported by H) which will be worn at all gigs from now on (and on chilly festival nights!). Thanks boys, we now look the busines!

The very next day we were playing at Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham. Despite all the motorways being closed there and back (!) this was a great experience for us. Needless to say, Sunday is being spent soaking up the sun.

We've had a busy few weeks, recording our second album and doing gigs. But not too busy to pop into Vixen 101 Radio in Market Weighton to have a cup of tea and a chat with Bill. Here's what he kindly said about us...""Charming, delightful and slightly bonkers"

But then he went on to say...."Not only are Helen and Sharon extremely talented; their vocal harmonies complementing each other perfecly, they are also down-to-Earth girls who are genuinely likeable and a pleasure to chat to. They are more than welcome to return to our studios in the future"

Black Swan gig 4th April

A big thanks to everyone who came down to the Black Swan for our gig with Miles Cain. We do appreciate everyone's support!

We are currently still in the studio and we reckon we're about half way through the second album. We are delighted that some guest musicians have joined up for some of the tracks - we can't wait to hear the finished product. There will be some sneak preview tracks available shortly so look out for our messages about those.

.. So Otley was a fun night - We thoroughly enjoyed the Troubadours who guested for us. We are fans (although Sharon is still hogging Helen's copy of their CD). Thanks if you made it down..

We are also looking forward to playing York again (its been a wee while) on Saturday 4th April.

Meanwhile we are back in the studio polishing up a couple of new tracks - if we get out act together they may be available for down load one of these days.

Embracing The Space

TWO have been busy. (with their non-TWO lives) Helen nearly told Sharon that she was missing her - but realised that sounded false... She was missing TWO. Sharon felt sorely upset but got over it very quickly.

Our BIG news is that we have just ordered some... wait for it... PURPLE sticky labels for our leads and stands. Never will we leave anything behind again. (Sharon tries to leave Helen most times but now Helen will have a label too.)

PLEASE come to the Red Lion on Thursday 5th March where we will be remembering all our old favourite tunes and a few new ones too.

Acoustic Eclectic Gig

This was a great evening! Thank you to all those who bought a CD. It's much appreciated and we hope you are enjoying it.

We particularly enjoyed going into Lancashire as the Yorkshire duo - we didn't mention it, much! Everyone was very welcoming and we're sure we've strengthened the Roses Counties' bonds of friendship.

Our big confession of the evening though, is that we spent the entire journey time listening to our newly recorded material (is that wrong of us???). We hope to get something out to you shortly, we think it's fab of course.

Gigs, gigs and more gigs...

Our next gig is at Acoustic Eclectic - a well established evening with local musicians with us rounding off the evening. This is at the Q Inn, Market St. Stalybridge on Wednesday 5th February.

We are also delighted to be invited to host a regular evening at the Red Lion in Otley, the first one being on 5th March 2009. We will be performing a mixture of old and new songs (of course!) and will be inviting other musicians to join us to introduce audiences to lots of local talent.

Both these events are free entry and we would be delighted to see you there!

Thanks to everyone who came down to City Screen on Thursday - and especially to those who bought CDs! We are currently enjoying "Studio Mondays in January" (due to finish very soon!) and we are working on our next release - don't hold you breath though - we are less than half way through and do have to sell a few more of "one" before we can press the next!
But if you have not been to a gig in a while, our current set tends to include some songs from "one" and the odd smattering of new material... we are enjoying keeping it fresh!

Otley gig - brill venue, thanks for coming down

Just a quickie to say a big thanks to all of you who came to the Otley Courthouse gig. We thoroughly enjoyed it, the sound was ace and the other acts very very good. When we hear other really good musicians, it makes us practise more!!

(BTW very good Thai Restaurant in Otley, small place round the corner from the Courthouse, excellent food!)

Despite a late night last night, we are looking forward to tonight at the Black Swan (£5 on the door) and catching up with Jess Morgan and Gina Dootson. Yes! We are unashamedly celebrating chicks and guitars.

Acoustic Gathering, Scarborough

This was an amazing gig (last Sunday). The audience was brill, the weather was fine and the best bit was having to be rowed to the stage which was in the middle of the lake.....how fab was that! There were some really good acts on, so if you missed it, look out for the Acoustic Gathering next year.

Days with Studio Stu

At our launch party, we introduced you all to Studio Stu who has been so important in producing the CD. Whilst he was drunk on Glenmorangie we got him to agree to us going back into the studio to mess around with the new material we are starting to gig with.

We've had a couple of days so far and we are very excited about the results. H's new Lowden guitar sounds sublime and S's chesty cough really adds to the ambience.

Launch Party - Big Thanks!

We had such a good time on Saturday at our CD launch party. A big thank you to everyone who came along. The place was packed and you all seemed to have a good time - which was the aim. We enjoyed the Cava that was left over! Thanks too to Drew and Hilary for playing, they were brilliant.

Sharon spent Sunday sleeping in front of the TV whilst Helen was working on the second album.

We're looking forward to our trip to Scarborough Acoustic Gathering, so we may see you there. Details are on the right.

GREENBELT

We were lucky enough to get a fantastic slot in the Performance Cafe on Sunday night at Greenbelt Festival in Cheltenham sandwiched between Aaron Roche and Brian Houston. We played our socks off (which may have been smelly because we had been camping) and just LOVED playing to somewhere between 300 and 400 people - well - who can count that many and remember all your chords! We did a 45 min set including some new songs and got a great vibe from the audience. Here is a pic of us playing earlier that day in the Shop, appearing between Quench and Cathy Burton. We sold a few CDs too - but Shhh don't tell anyone because its not launched yet!

LAUNCH PARTY!

which will be released shortly on the SOUP label, which is our
sister label. The gig will take place on Saturday 6th September

Great gig down at the Junction last night - I thought you played well and sang brilliantly. I enjoyed the Baskervilles and Drew's set too. We've added a little photo gallery to the top right of this page.

Hi folks,

We have both been busy with other things (yes, I know, how could we not be doing music!!!) But hey, we've got to do things to fill the blog.

Sharon has just done a whistle stop tour of the festivals selling her wares (!) and made about £5.

Helen has been far more sophisticated and taken a trip to some Eastern European country. You'd think she would have absorbed more of the culture, but ended up going to the zoo......

We are now busy rehearsing for our massive tour of ....places round here, actually. Check out the list of gigs and we'd love to see you there (at them all if you can manage it!).

The CD is back from the CD factory....it's beautiful (sob)

Ta Da! The CD launch date has been selected. For a myriad of reasons (and that's what you get when it involves more than one person...) it will be on 6th September. Put this date in your diary! If you are on our mailing list, you will be receiving a personal invitation to this event. We are planning to have more of a party than a gig, though of course we'll be playing! We hope you will come along and help us celebrate.

This is our blog. From here we can do what we do best - talk about ourselves. After some hard graft and lots of coffee, we are on the verge of releasing our first CD as TWO. And we are going to have a big party to celebrate! All those lovely people who have supported us over the years will be invited to come along and help us pop the champers cork (or fizzy wine maybe) and nibble on a pig's trotter to mark this auspicious time......more details to follow.
